Our goal with this letter is to provide several pieces of information regarding Wakendaw Lakes.

Without a doubt, location is the primary feature due to its proximity to downtown and the beaches.  Everyday entering the neighborhood, we are reminded of the pristine beauty and unsurpassed charm of the ‘boulevard of oak trees.’

The entire neighborhood is comprised of 407 homes and was built in many different phases and by a handful of different companies beginning in 1968.  Thirteen sets of Covenants and Restrictions and the Wakendaw Lakes Civic Association Bylaws are located on our website. An Architectural Review Board is one of several committees described in the Bylaws and most sets of Covenants & Restrictions.

Wakendaw Lakes Civic Association is fifty-years old, and is one of only a few neighborhoods managed by volunteers.   As such, no management fees are incurred and dues remain extremely low. Non-compulsory annual dues of $200 per household support the maintenance and beautification of the neighborhood.

All of the following are possible due to the annual dues support:

·        Boulevard and Common Areas Landscaping

·         Monthly newsletter (September –May)

·         Neighborhood Directory

·         Social events

Please note:  There are several privately owned areas in the neighborhood.  Abutters of Lake Wakendaw Corporation, “the big lake,” and Wakendaw Manor Property Owners Association residents have mandatory dues for their private amenities.  Wakendaw East also has additional dues.

Several avenues of communication allow neighbors to stay in touch. In addition to the newsletter and directory mentioned above,

·         Website:  wakendawlakes.org

·        Facebook page: Wakendaw Lakes Neighbors (not administrated by the civic

association board)

Contact information is located on the main page.  Thank you.
